Get Busy Livin or Get Busy Dyin, Part Two

SoCal to NYC

Zach's Brand New Forty-Eight

Hey gang,

About a month ago, you met Jonathan, a 30-something investment banker that up and bought a Harley to ride from Southern California to New York City and back.. Oh, did I mention he’d never even been on a motorcycle prior to 2011?

Now meet Zach. He’s a virgo, likes long walks on the beach, and hates it when people talk over him. Actually, I don’t even know Zach so I made all of that up, but I do know that he’s like Jonathan in that he’s never ridden a motorcycle either. Check out Zach’s Blog.

Hey gang,

About a month ago, you met Jonathan, a 30-something investment banker that up and bought a Harley to ride from Southern California to New York City and back.. Oh, did I mention he’d never even been on a motorcycle prior to 2011?

These two pals represent the epitome of Americana ideology. Who wouldn’t want to cover such a cool story? Hence I’m going with them. For part of the way at least. I have business in Austin, Texas to check out the annual ROT Rally, so I thought I’d join them for the first leg of the trip to see through their eyes how they take to the freedom of the road that can only be experienced from riding a motorcycle. I’ll be posting more blogs about how they prepare for the trip and what routes they plan on taking so check back often.

Also, Zach has been keeping a blog of his adventures to date which you can check out right here. I’ll let him give you a better understanding of, well, him.

Stay tuned for more as this saga unfolds…

I could really use the support of all bikers out there.
I have always been supportive of buy American till today. It is all done with.
I am a Vietnam veteran, with a left arm and hand disability. I have limited extension with fingers when they are cold or after a run.
I bought a new 2011 Harley Davidson, Fat Bob Dyna Street, with the stipulation that the ‘CLUTCH’ be moved from the Left to the Right, So I can Ride it.
Harley Davidson, in particularly. Rubber City Harley Davidson, of Akron Ohio, Has refused to do it now. I bought the new bike 29 Feb 2012. They are citing it as a ‘Warranty’ Violation and Un-safe!
I have ridden a motorcycle since 1974 this way. It is not ‘un safe’ just a little odd to others with it being altered.
But I think, What it is, is that it was a part of the sales agreement, and they do not wish to pay for it. They want to charge me an arm an leg for a front break control. BS, a new Master cylinder for a hydraulic clutch for the Dressers are only $209 to me, about $50 to the dealer and I’d have a left hand break.
I Called HD in Milwaukee, got an okay from them to have it done and it would be okay. Dealer cried the blues and that decision was changed to no go.
If I convert the clutch as I need to, in order to ride and enjoy the fun of motorcycling, It will violate or end my Warranty and so negate any repairs, should I need them.
I have ridden for over 38 years like this, In Rain, Snow, and driving winds. From Ohio to FL and to CA. Never a problem. Well lost a lot of rivets once off the rear sprocket, LOL. I wrench my own bikes. I’m 62 now and would like a break on the new one.
I plan to get my new Fat Bob tomorrow and will convert he clutch myself over to the right and most likely end HD’s lousy warranty.
If you own a Harley Enjoy, If you are looking to buy a new motor cycle! Please look at others that are American Made. Should you need a modification or want to use an after-market part, buy a used HD. Not New.
I hope you’ll repost this so others will know the HD truth, about how cheap they are towards vets and honouring the warranty.
Maybe it will help others, Or even me.
