ds toward the rear to reach a 4.5-inch diameter that is capped by
a thin-line beveled aluminum tip, while the Tri-Flo morphs from a 4-inch round front to its distinctive soft-triangular form at the rear. It too is capped by a unique thin-line aluminum tip. The slip-on mufflers meet the new MIC/SAE J2825 sound standard but have an incredible sound.
In addition the frequency and location of the perforation patterns in the high-flo cores creates significant sound scattering in the mid frequencies, which helps to enhance the low frequency tones. The high-flo core itself is a massive 3-inches in diameter which gives the muffler an aggressive look without the objectionable sound levels.
Said Tim McCool, Cobra Engineering president, “We can do so many more things today regarding sound, performance and style because of advanced manufacturing techniques, tools and materials. We can now produce relatively quiet exhausts that perform well, look great and sound like nothing before. Advances like these are what keeps Cobra on the front line of muffler developments.”
Like all Cobra exhausts the Powr-Flo and Tri-Flo slip-on mufflers are made in the U.S.A and come with a limited lifetime warranty that even covers discoloration. They use precision laser cut mounting brackets and stainless steel clamps to mount to the stock headpipes or to Cobra’s PowrPort Dual headpipes. Both have an MSRP of $599.95 for chrome and $649.95 for black.
Cobra recommends using the Fi2000 PowrPro fuel tuner with CVT technology to optimize the bike’s fuel because of the additional airflow available from the PowrFlo mufflers.
The Powr-Flo and Tri Flo slip-ons will be available in dealerships in early January.
