We haven't spotted the Harley-Davidson Cross Bones out on the roads around us in SoCal—at least yet. Come to think of it, the same goes for the Rocker C.

We haven't spotted the Harley-Davidson Cross Bones out on the roads around us in SoCal—at least yet. Come to think of it, the same goes for the Rocker C. We did a road test on the Cross Bones in our Vol 40, No 6 issue, and we'll be featuring a test on the Rocker Softail in our No 9 issue (on sale the beginning of July). We were curious what others who have ridden the Cross Bones thought about the fairly new model.

It would also be great to hear from the passengers who have taken a ride on the Rocker C.

1. We've got one of the new Rocker C's and I'll have to say I LOVE it! The style alone is georgeous (as long as you stick with the pacific blue, not crazy about the other two). The best part of all is the 'trick seat'. It virtually dissapears when someone is riding passenger and, speaking as a passenger myself, the ride isn't all that bad. Not one for those who prefer the 'couches' but for the ones who don't mind a little snuggling with the driver, its pretty comfy. Jest be sure your holding on tight, the tourqe could definitely leave you behind. Wouldn't reccommend it for the longer trips as it can leave you a little tired (still watching and hoping for some way to get a sissy bar on ours!). Overall, great bike a most definitely an eye catcher!

2. I'm happy to hear that you love your Rocker C. I'll also have to agree with you on the "snuggling" feature of the trick seat—good point! Regarding parts for the Rocker C, we haven't seen too many out there for it—yet—but all in good time soon. Check out the blog posted about Heartland's kit as well as take a look at our issues for upcoming products and a road test on the Rocker C. Thanks for your comments.

3. i am old school & crrently own a "05 fxst. I have seen both the rocker and the cross bones in person. I like the cross bones overall but feel the rocker suspension should be on it instead of the softail/spring seat combo or keep the saddle seat on a rigid frame.The rocker is the biggest abortion since Roe vs. Wade.And I thought I hated the Duce ?? I stand corrected now.

4. I've put 1,200 miles on my Rocker-C so far and love the ride. As far as color, to each his own. I like the gold metal flake under the crimson red on my Rocker. The Red Rocker looks better in the sun than in a photo. My daughter rides with me most of the time. Around town she is fine and has to hug close. This is also the first bike I've had in a long time without a sissybar. On longer trips we have to stop to let her stretch some. She can't change positions as easily on the back of the Rocker.

5. my birthday was 5/20 and for it/fathers day the wife and kids gave me a HD CrossBones. I love the through back look to the 30`s and it rides great but at 381 miles there is a "whine" in 5th gear that HD says is inherant to the six speeds and you have o live with it. Seems they mated straight cut gears in 1st and 5th position and helical gears in all other positions resulting in "whine". Now at 20,000 dollars this is discusting. they say at the 5oo mile maintence a thicker oil can be switched to hep quiet it a little but customer has to pay. The factory rep states that it is not a meshing problem but a a maientennce machinst
equipment design manager and builder of bikes from concept to finish product this is a tap dance passed to the consumer to bare.I pick the bike up Saturday and first thing we are doing a video riding down the road with 6 brohers and all of us wearing gun shot hearing protection
to be played on You Tube and google for all to see. I am keeping the bike because of family but am looking for another transmission (baker) to be able to enjoy riding with out the embrassing whine

6. to all who noticed my first post about my 2008 CrossBones the misspelled words were deliberate so
the HD rep who I am relateing to sees
how stupid his answers are to HD`s
quality control and consumers. Expect video out next month if this
issue is not resolved.

7. Sorry to hear of the problems with your CrossBones. It's a shame, because I've heard the "tranny whine" is fairly common with the new HD six speeds. I believe Baker makes a kit to fix it, but you shouldn't have to do that with a brand new bike... The CrossBones are sweet looking rides though, for a stock bike.

8. I just wish HD would make the CrossBones with a full rear fender (I've never been a fan of the bobtail rear fender).

9. HAVE A 08 DYNA FAT BOB WITH A SIX SPEED AND A LITTLE OVER 3000 MILES IN THREE MONTHS AND DON'T HERE ANY REAL WHINE OUT OF IT. JUST READ YOUR EXHAUST TECH COLUMN AFTER ORDERING A SET OF SLIP ONS FOR MORE SOUND. FACTORY ARE TO SOFT. WENT TO LOCAL HARLEY SHOP AND THEY GAVE ME A CATALOG # ON A SET THAT WILL INCREASE SOUND BUT WILL NOT REQUIRE MAJOR RETUNING IS THIS STRAIGHT UP OR WERE THEY YANKING MY CHAIN

10. I bought my rocker cin April and love it. My passenger also loves riding with me. I have almost 3000 miles on mine and would like to warn other rocker owners of the two warranty issues Ive had. The liscence plate light assembly has died due to moisture collecting in the unit. It appears the unit does not have a weather tight seal. Ive been waiting almost a month and half for my new light to come in. They are having backorder problems. The other issue i noticed last weekend was cracking paint on my oil tank. The tank is cast aluminium which expands much more than steel under extreme heat causing the paint to crack. Has anyone else had these problems?

11. I've read some good comments here, thanks for all of your input. It seems some riders are having a tranny whine—which we haven't heard too much about but hope these folks find a fix (who knows, maybe a story will end up in the magazine)—while others haven't experienced this whine. But there seems to be some mutual agreement that riders are pleased with their bikes. Yeah, some are all for or against the Rocker C's "trick seat" or desiring a full rear fender, but both models have plenty of advantages and great points, and some less desirable things that may help H-D further improve on in the near future. Thanks again for the responses.

12. I have test ridden the Rocker C and Cross Bones. Liked them both a lot, the Cross Bones was a very smooth ride, and the Rocker C is very cool looking with a stiff ride. The seat looks a nice from some angles and out of place at other angles, but love the fat tire in the back.

13. I have to coment on the 6 speed trans issue, Iv'e had a 2007 superglide with the same trans, traded it in Dec for the bike I really wanted leftover 2008 Night Train with the same 5 speed, I have 2100 Miles on the Night train I love it, took it to New Orleans from Indaina and back beginning in Feb, I froze but the ride was great. I feel for you guy, No 6th gear wines on either bike, the 6th gear is the best thing Harley's done of late speicaly on the highway!!!!
In fact never heard of that problem ever!!!
Hope you get it resolved and soon...
